Not every deception comes with threats. Some come with smiles, praise, and gentle words that feel safe, until you realise you’ve been led off the path.
The Flatterer
A Flatterer meets the pilgrims and speaks in a way that sounds helpful. He guides them with confidence, and for a time they follow without question. But the road ends in a net. They are trapped, and it becomes clear they did not test his words against truth.
An angel rescues them, but not without rebuke. The lesson is clear: even sincere believers can be deceived when they stop measuring voices by Scripture. Flattery can be just as dangerous as open error.
1 John 4:1 (KJV)
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Every message must be tested by God’s Word.
