As the end draws nearer, a new danger appears, one that doesn’t look fierce at all. It looks calm. It feels comfortable. It makes you want to sleep.
The Enchanted Ground
The pilgrims come to the Enchanted Ground, a place designed to lull travellers into drowsiness. The battle here isn’t temptation in the loud sense, it’s spiritual heaviness, slow neglect, and the dangerous ease of drifting.
Christian and Hopeful encourage one another to stay awake through purposeful conversation, questions, and reminders. They keep each other alert by speaking of truth, warning, hope, and God�s faithfulness. Bunyan shows that vigilance is not only private discipline; it is often strengthened through fellowship.
