Tired of the difficult way, Christian and Hopeful stray into By-path Meadow. At first it seems easier: smoother ground, less strain, a break from hardship. But the easy road quickly turns into trouble. Storm comes. Confusion follows. And before long, their detour leads them into capture.
Bunyan’s warning here is sharp: the path that seems ‘right’ in the moment can carry you somewhere you never intended to go. The safest road is not always the most comfortable one, but it is the one God has marked.
